Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance 2017

A showcase of automotive elegance cannot possibly be a show of presumptuous and superficial things. Elegance is substance, good manners, and interesting arguments: when it meets the magical world of cars, a Concours d’Elegance is created.

Since 1929 Villa d’Este has been one of the places to admire fine-metal automotive tailor made suits, which created one-offs and collectible masterpieces for true enthusiasts.

While at this kind of events driving is not the main attraction and it is true that some may find it boring to stare at some cars parked in a fancy location, Villa d’Este is indeed very special: the selection of cars that one can admire is stunning and it could only be seen there. Collectors and fine connoisseurs of car history will find fascinating to witness in a single location cars like the 1922 Bentley 3 Litre, the first Bentley of the Bentley boys sharing the grass with the 1920 Ballot 3/8 LC, the first car ever to win at the Italian Grand Prix and the 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS Prototype of the famous Collezione Lopresto.

The 1957 Ferrari 250 California prototype competing against an ultra-rare 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato and the Baillon Collection Maserati A6G/2000 Gran Sport by Frua is a spectacle to behold, with their details on full display.

Even if at Villa d’Este driving is not the main part of the show, it sure is a treat to see such a massive gathering of fine looking and very important metal, assembled to make enthusiast’s hearts beat faster.
